º CPhysicochemical Properties: White monoclinic crystalline or amorphous powder. Its chemical compositions generally is expressed in x MgCO3· Z H2O, of which the proportions of x, y and z have several different kinds and can be 4: 1: 4, 4: 1: 6, 4: 1: 7, 3: 1: 3, 3: 1: 4. And nonoxic, odorless, stable in the air. Relative density is 2.16. Slight soluble in water, and its queous solution shows weak alkallline reaction. Its solubility in water is 0.02% (15º C). Easily soluble in acid and ammonium salt solution, itshall resolve and send out carbon dioxide while meeting with diluted acid. Heated to 3000 and above, it shall resolve and produce water, carbon dioxide and magnesium oxide.
Use: It can be used as anti-acid agent in pharmaceutical industry. And can be used as desiccant, color retention agent, carrier and anti-caking agent. Also used for gastric acid too much, gastric ulcer or duodenal ulcer, etc.
